ABOUT BAGDOGRA POLICE STATION

Bagdogra Police Station started it’s functioning from 17/08/2008. It was notified into a Police Station & upgraded from Investigation centre on 29/02/2008 vide notification no. 911/ P L dtd. 29/02/2008. Previously Bagdogra I/C were functioning covering some portions of Naxalbari P.S. as well as Phansidewa P.S. The newly formed police station comprises four G.P.s viz. 1. Upper Bagdogra. 2. Lower Bagdogra. 3. Gossaipur. 4.Hetmuri Singhijhora G.P., which includes 75 (seventy-five) numbers mouzas (47 numbers from Phansidewa P.S. area & 28 numbers from Naxalbari P.S. area). It’s area is 123.11 Sq. K.M. Out of which 68.50 Sq. K.M is from Naxalbari block area & 55.11 Sq. K.M. is from Phansidewa block area. Bagdogra is specially known for Bagdogra Airport as well as Army & Air force base. The Bagdogra Airport is the only International Airport of West Bengal except Dumdum Airport. There is an Air force base by the side of civil airport. Apart from the Bagdogra Airport & air force base, 16 F.A.D. (Field Ammunition Depot) Bengdubi, NRL (Numaligarh Refinery Limited) & Bagdogra Railway Station are the most vital installations. There are 10 (Ten) tea gardens under Bagdogra P.S. jurisdiction.       Bagdogra P.S. is a mixed populated area mainly comprising  of Bengali, Nepali and Bihari. The tea gardens area is mostly populated with tribal people surrounding Bagdogra Police Station. In recent days due to G.J.M.M. movement as well as movement of Adivasi Vikas Parishad Bagdogra came into light & the place is the witness of many incidents.Mainly NH-31 & NH-31C pass through Bagdogra area. NH-31 starts from Gossaipur commercial check post upto Church more & NH-31 C started from Bihar more upto Lalfa Bridge Bagdogra Jurisdiction.
