Bhaktinagar PS Case No. 659/25, Dated: 06.07.2025, U/S- 46 A (c) of Bengal Excise Act (B.E Act): Started instant case over the written complainant SI YouelLepcha S/o Jai TsheringLepchaof Bhaktinagar PS, SPC to the effect that on 06.07.2025 at 19:05 hrs, he received a source information that a person has stored illicit liquor and is selling the same at his shop at G.T. Road, Upper Bhanu Nagar without any valid license. Accordingly, he along with force left for G.T. Road, Upper Bhanu Nagar and reached there at about 19:45 hrs and as identified by the source, found that illicit liquor was indeed being stored at Astha Hotel on G.T. Road, Upper Bhanu Nagar. Consequently, they cordoned off the area and detained one individual, who identified himself as BidyutGhosh (32yers) S/o SukumarGhosh of Lenin Sarani, Bhanunagar ward no 43, PS Bhaktinagar, Dist. Jalpaiguri. Upon further inspection, they discovered the illicit liquor at the shop and an E-rickshaw (bearing registration number WB 73 G 3262). When asked, the individual failed to produce any valid license or documentation for possessing such items. Moreover, during interrogation, it became apparent that the owner of the hotel had fled upon seeing police presence. He supplies liquor to this hotel as needed, while the actual owner of Astha Hotel is Anjali Rai, W/o Lt. Anil Rai, of Upper Bhanu Nagar. They have been involved in selling and possessing liquor without a valid license for the past six months for unlawful profit. Then, he seized and labeled 1) Four bottles of Tuborg strong beer each containing 650 Ml, 2) Two bottles of Kingfisher strong beer each containing 650 Ml, 3) Two bottles of country spirit Saki each containing 300 ml, 4) Two bottles of McDowells No 1 each containing 180 Ml, 5) Two bottles of Iconiq white each containing 180 Ml, 6) One bottle of McDowells no 1 containing 375 Ml, 7) One bottle of McDowells no 1 each containing 750 Ml and 8) One E-Rikshaw (toto) having registration no WB 73 G 3262 under proper seizure list and arrested him after observing all formalities.
